The commission voted two to one to grant SCDC $25,000. Both Sweet and Cribbins say they have faith in the agency’s “new direction” and are confident it will produce results. Main preferred to wait until the agency showed some results before committing any funds.
Initially, the grant application indicated they wanted the full $75,000 in order to secure two years of salary for a permanent executive director in order to keep the agency alive. John Hitt, the interim executive director and board member Fred Jacquot assured me they will secure the additional $50,000 required from private and municipal sources. “Don’t worry,” said Hitt. “We won’t let the ship sink.”
SCDC was formed exclusively to promote Jordan Cove. They get their candidates elected, then they get those individuals to give them more money to promote Jordan Cove. It may not be illegal, but it is unethical and morally wrong. If you’ve been watching this group then you know they will give the Jordan Cove promoters whatever they want. Wake up sheeple, they are selling our government to the highest bidder, right under our nose’s. What do we get? We get to dredge the bay, buy the railroad, forgive the taxes and watch a few merchants swell their coffers, and then we get the bomb left on our doorstep and a new scar across the state. What a deal!
Even if they never build this thing, which is more than likely, we should not let the same people bring us more of their town saving schemes. You may think these people are likable enough and smart, but they will sell your children and their futures to whatever snake-oil salesmen promises them a buck. Its simple, if you keep supporting SCDC and their new reflection called BSOregon and the candidates they sponsor, then you are going to keep getting these type of results from your local government. These Demo-publicans are not a friend to conservatives or liberals, they are just out for themselves.
PLEASE, FIND QUALIFIED CANDIDATES TO RUN AGAINST THESE TWO! The $25K will not cover part year of SCDC office expenses, or part year of benefits to the two employees, or part year salaries; and certainly no monies to help the local businesses who are expected to benefit from the new direction SCDC.
And, speaking of new direction, if we taxpayers don’t change direction soon we are likely to end up where we are headed.
Isn’t there a part of “their ship” already laying, rotting in Charleston someplace? The Crossline Ferry or something? Well, looks like the Pac collected, must think themselves very smug. And how sad it is.
Disgusting, they have no sense of accountability to the people of coos county. They have sold out the tax payers by giving these development con artists more county controlled funding. But it is no surprise, they knew they had to pay the piper that delivered them those seats they occupy.
