Mary Schamehorn, editor of the Myrtle Point Herald for the past twenty five years, told me today was her last day. Schamehorn said she began in the newspaper business fifty four years ago with the Bandon Western World. She did not give a reason for The Herald was purchased last month by Matt Hall and this weeks edition simply lists Hall as the editor. Schamehorn did not give a reason for leaving but mentioned she found out she was no longer the editor when she read this week’s paper and saw her name replaced by Hall’s.
Another who is speaking the truth. The daily garbage can liner, in an article with a terrible photo of Schamehorn with crap in her teeth, states that Schamehorn quit Wednesday for no reason. Here Schamehorn says she was replaced and nobody told her before she read it in the paper. Either way, no great loss.
The World, your first stop for old news.
From what I understand Mary S had been cautioned by the owner that he would view a repeat of some act of defiance as her two weeks notice. Apparently, she pushed the envelope and he started the clock ticking
What a Schame!
YES!!!!!!!! Stay away!!!!
So much for “faith based” ownership.
