Not everyone is enthusiastic about the prospect of having interim commissioner Fred Messerle on the board as this mobile “NO Fred” sign indicates. Someone possibly using a machete has been hacking up campaign signs in the Coos Bay-Empire area and according to some the culprit leaves Cribbens and Messerle signs untouched.
Position one is going to be very interesting to see whether campaign money translates into votes in Coos County because in this race many people will be voting less for Fred Messerle or Randy Sanne than they are voting against Bob Main. In other words they are voting for the candidate they believe has the best chance of beating Main, who has burned a lot of bridges and disappointed many of his previous backers, not necessarily for the best candidate. Messerle has name recognition and campaign funds on his side whereas Sanne is less well known and because he represents the working class has fewer campaign funds to spend getting his message out. Nonetheless, if Sanne survives the primary, and I believe that he will, his chances of winning in the general are probably higher against Messerle than Main simply because so many people feel about Messerle the way this sign holder does.
No idea! While it is valuable to get feedback from county staff I wouldn’t rely on them as a barometer of how the election will go. Unlike other citizens they, especially the at-will managers have a whole other collection of reasons to choose one candidate over another, like whether their job is more secure with one or the other. An example would be Francis Smith supporting and actively campaigning for Messrle over Main (and who can blame her as we have all witnessed Main’s horrible behavior towards her).
How do you think courthouse staff will vote?
Does Sanne really only represent the “working class”? What is the “working class”? For too many years I worked seven day weeks, long hour days, until my wife said enough! I was not part of a union. Am I working class? Hopefully Sanne plans to represent all citizens, including non union members, if elected. If not, he should be defeated. Most of the signs destroyed are north or south of the tribes housing on Tarheel. Wouldn’t it be nice to have the Barton Pettit people spend all of their money and gain nothing?
The working class as generally defined and intended here means people who work for wages as you well know and unions are w minor part of the working class. Sanne has always maintained he will work for all the citizens and since he wants to keep people working that obviously includes businesses
