Looking at campaign contributions for Commissioner Messerle, reported at $10,605. His supporters are either in panic mode or they intend to buy him a seat.
I also believe some his supporters are the same people that were still supporting ex Commissioner Stufflebean even after investigators from the Attorney General’s office found no evidence of his accusations against his opponent, Sheriff Andy Jackson.
How can some people break the law day after day and never be cited? The red car with Messerle campaign signs on both sides and the back, has been parked in a 30 minute zone for hours most days of the week at the Visitor Information Center in Coos Bay. I believe the car belongs to Mrs Fred Messerle. This space is being taken up for campaign purposes and should be reserved for visitors or tourists.
Maybe Captain Yates could clue us in on Bay Area politics.

Phil, let me take a moment and thank you for the time and effort you put in to bring the tapes to those of us who can’t make the meetings. Please don’t ever think we don’t appreciate it. Good job and good piece.
What a shame we live in a community where the press is neither open nor free, and we have to rely on citizens to report what the hell is going on in this county.
Bringing these issues to the public has resulted in the boys at the Forum wanting me to get the hell out of Coos County “if you don’t like it”. Obviously we have people who have lived here for over forty years, and who hate you if you tell them the truth. One would think their backs would be so sore after forty years of grabbing their ankles for SCDC the Port and the Chamber. They hate you for asking why they’ve allowed it. They quote the same damn lies they’ve been fed for four decades. And they hate you for reminding them.
Masochism on display. Stockholm Syndrome. Imagine getting screwed like this for four decades, then publicly condemn those who ask them why the hell do you allow it? When pressed to explain what we the taxpayers of Coos County have received from all that half a billion of our dollars?
An ice machine. And some repaired pot holes. That was just about it. They bought the rusted railroad to nowhere because it is a constant stream of income to the Port of Coos Bay and the piglets that run it. Imagine Kronsteiner being the chairman of a board he has sucked millions from, and our schools close and our teachers are fired, but Kronstiner gets his contracts, and it will continue because locals like getting F’d for forty years.
Ken Messerle has applied for the Port as well. Did Kenny find a way to get even MORE money/power than he had as their lobbyist?
These guys are feeling the daylight, they don’t like it. They will spend whatever they have to spend to continue to control every aspect of this county.
And to insure nothing changes.
VOTE ANYBODY BUT THESE THREE. I’d take my chances on the REAL clown at this point.
Dear Mr. Thompsion, the Vice President of the downtown Coos Bay chamber / publisher of the daily paper considers you and me to be gullible. The Messerle donations of $2,000 from the Sause family, $200 from Jon Barton, $250 from the Clausen family were expected. The last minute $4,000 donation from the recently formed, and somewhat secretaive, “Coos County Alliance for Progress” was not expected. Panic? Maybe? It’s time that these fellows came from under their rock and told the people who they are. The Sweet donations from Kronsteiner of the Port and Whitty formerly of the Port were expected. All of the large donations to Cribbins from tribal members who generally don’t have big bucks to give away is a concern. Clark is wrong! The tribe is buying a commissioner seat. And, don’t panic yet but two Tribe members are being considered for open Port Commissioner seats. Why are we letting this sovereign nation get control here?
The very fact that Mrs Messerle holds the position she has with SCDC without qualification or language and speaking skills is a prime example of the privileged looking after their own and ignoring the rules. Expect more of the same if he is elected.
You may think a little parking violation is pretty much meaningless. Perhaps this is not actively endorsed by the Messerle campaign, so what?
I think it is indicator of how the “ol boy” network that has run Coos County thinks. They are the special ones and do not have to be bothered with mundane laws. Coos County only exists to support their endeavors.
Only the “little people” have to comply with little laws
