In 2008 Bob Main spent $21,000 to unseat incumbent John Griffith who spent almost as much. Main contributed $17,000 of his own money to win the seat so taking office may come at a price. Presently, Main has already receipted some large donations including $1,200 from Sharon Waterman and Waterman Auto and another $1,000 from Earl Byers as well as other sizable donations. Messerle has pulled in $1,000 from John Knutson, $500 from the Sheldons and other large donations.
Sanne is relying upon many small donations to keep pace with his challengers and equalize the influence special interests may have on this race. Please contribute to Randy Sanne’s campaign by clicking here, every dollar helps.
Messerle reported another $6,009 in contributions over the weekend. The Sause family donated $2,000 and Meghan Jacquot and Aaron Thomas donated $1,000 each amongst other donations. Jon Barton threw in a couple hundred. We can see who wants him elected and who he will listen to for advice.
Frankly, Main has already spent $21 K again and maybe will spend more. Money does help get the word out! In any case it’s nice to have 2 incomes 60K+ from you basic salary + 54K from your retirement. Elected officials are some very “special” folks who are allowed to work full time for a PERS entity AFTER retiring. Plus we’ve all heard Bob say he has lots and lots of funds invested etco.
Now Messerle is the CEO of two corporations for the Messerle’s and also collects his 60K+ from being a non-elected Commissioner…..another fellow that has plenty of funds. I imagine others will be appearing from his brother Kenny who is paid big bucks from the Port of Coos Bay among others to lobby for them at the legislature etc Wonder how much old Al Petit will be kicking in. Oh yes, that’s right he got his 6K from City of CB Urban Renewal $ and doesn’t even have to pay it back. Why is it that these UR funds that are run by the cities and County can just “give” our taxes to businesses? Does that make sense to you folks? I think it would make sense to LOAN $ at maybe very low or no interest to viable businesses who need a little assistance but GIVE. I think that’s a POOR use of my tax $!
Nevertheless, it is time to “Clear the Decks” and Sweep the Clean of the current leadership and get new leadership. This County Board doesn’t seem able to do anything but tell us they are in a “pickle” and then spends large amounts of funds for projects that are not absolutely essential. What gives? Is that what you do when your incomes reduce …..spend more $.
Or written off?
Yes, I believe it was a loan but has it been repaid?
I was told that Main did not contribute – rather he loaned his campaign money at a high interest rate. The man is no dummy.
