OREGON COAST COMMUNITY ACTION BOARD RESPONSE TO THE WORLD
The Board of Oregon Coast Community Action takes its responsibilities very seriously. Our charge is to soberly and actively weight the allegations made against ORCCA, to clarify facts from opinion, and find positive solutions where needed. The Board proposed three action steps to be taken; to create a position for a pantry liaison, to hire a management and communications consultant, and to conduct Board interviews of pantries, ORCCA staff, and community partners.
To date, the Board has completed over 20 interviews with pantries, staff, and community partners and is creating a report to be shared with the Board, the CEO and with our consultant who will provide us with expertise in management, communication and procedures. The assessment is anticipated to begin within the next couple of weeks and will result in a report and recommendations to the Board. The pantry liaison position has been temporarily filled on a voluntary basis with plans for future hiring of position.
It is important to note that all steps taken by ORCCA regarding personnel issues were made after consultations with legal advisors and Human Resource consultants. ORRCA is prohibited in releasing information that might reveal confidential personnel matters, nor can such issues be discussed by the Board or staff of ORCCA. This, of course, puts ORCCA at a disadvantage in public discourse and the media. The Board and staff of ORCCA has a responsibility to follow legal advice to ensure that it is taking necessary, appropriate, and legal steps when terminating employees or taking other personnel actions.
As reported in Saturday’s lengthy article, all points of the allegations previously reported were found to have no basis in both an external and internal review. In addition, ORCCA’s 2011 annual audit has just been completed with “no significant findings” (a clean audit) by an independent auditor, Aiken & Sanders, Inc. PS Certified Public Accountants based in Aberdeen Washington.’
The ORCCA Board is in ongoing contact with the Department of Justice and has invited them to do an assessment of the organization The Department of Justice declined, stating that the situation is being monitored, but they have no cause to do an investigation. We are, however, in the process of preparing documents for their review.
The Board recognizes that mistakes have been made; in all situations of this nature responsibility for the deterioration in communication and trust, whether it is justified in whole or in part, is the result of miscommunication, assumptions and misperceptions on both sides. Our ultimate goal is to heal these rifts, change what needs to be changed, and move forward serving those in need in Coos and Curry counties as we have been doing so effectively for over forty years.
Sincerely,
ORCCA BOARD
Also, I feel its important to point out that this IS an edited response as mgx is trying to be a credible news source. Gotta stick with the facts, not your comfortable version. It is also important to note all the spelling and grammatical errors in orcCA’s press releases because we’re paying MarySC’s daughter $40k for this product. Therefore another symptom of all that is wrong with that organization.
Kay, orcca manages more than the food share. Millions of dollars fine into our community to them as the state designated agency for homelessness in Coos county. Where’s that money at? I’m not seeing an end to the problem. Geno illegally housing them at the mcauley doesn’t count. As for lng, I support it. with development comes employment stability and hopefully an interruption in the poverty cycle that is at the root of most of our county’s woes.
Now we got us a real Sherlock Holmes don’t we? Whew, I’ll sleep better tonight.LNG wanting his neighbors’ private property, but he doesn’t notice, he’s got to keep his eye on that thar food bank thingey. Wow, let there be no doubt why this county stays in the anus of Oregon. Step right up folks.
Seriously!
This is EDITED. they spelled “response” “responce” in the version they released. Also, they didn’t capitalize the “T” in The World, so it appeared their “responce” was to the entire world….. and that was just the mistakes in their title.
Lie! I received the same statement and know for a fact this is edited.
