Tim Bishop, candidate for commissioner, position 2, is proud of his role in the $51 million county owned pipeline. The pipeline, as everyone knows, has shown zero return on investment, doesn’t generate tax revenue, hasn’t brought any jobs or new industry and cost the county millions in restoration fees. Last year the commissioners looked to sell the damn thing and surprise, surprise there were no takers.
Bishop, speaking at the recent GOP fundraiser listed his role as president of FONSI and its development of the pipeline that promised “2,900 jobs” as one of his accomplishments. How do these guys view this boondoggle, one so poorly vetted that a special bill had to be enacted to exempt NW Natural from paying taxes, as a success? He is also the character who whined at a hearing regarding extending enterprise zone property tax exemption status to ORC for two more years. “You want to take the money away from them,” he cried. “How fair is that?”
Your North Bend readers should not forget that good ol Tim, attached at the hip to McKeown, Roblan, Slater, Barton, Messerle, SCDC, FONSI, who was the early leader of LNG and the pipelines – plural – effort, was also your neighbor who tried to merge your city with Coos Bay. The intelligent people among us, including JIm BIce of KWRO radio who was the greatest advocate against consolidation because he clearly understood that it was a ploy for Coos Bay to get North Bend’s tax base and for North Bend to get screwed, did all possible to discredit Bishop.
Envision a county Board comprised of Messerle, Bishop and Cribbins. We get the group FONSI and the Tribe. Landrum, the only candidate honest enough to admit to being a clown (Ringling Brothers) may be the best choice.
If people thought John Griffith was bad, Tim Bishop would be 100 times worse. Didn’t we just get rid of a “Bishop” in this county who had no concept of a government of the people, by the people, for the people? Why would we want another one?
Bishop has the upper hand on McKelvey. Mark has carried their water, in exchange he expected their future support, that support Mark was counting on, just evaporated, by putting him against one of their own TRUSTED SCDC buddies with a familiar face, Jon and gang can’t lose. Heads its Bishop, tails its Mckelvey, doesnt matter much to Jon, because SCDC owns the coin.
Mark will get the current elected Dems(all SCDC supporters) support just because he is loyal and uncritical towards them(Arnie,JoAnn, and Caddy).
To have a 3 deep “bench”, for position #2 , we would have to include Geno as a potential win for SCDC, based on his past stated opinions supporting LNG, online at theworldlink.
Just because Messerle moved sideways to make room for Mark to have a run at it, doesn’t mean they will garner support for him. That part of his deal with them wasn’t promised, was it?
