Main was the sole dissenting voice over a board decision to sign off as a participating taxing district on the extension of the Bandon Urban Renewal District. Dozens testified for and against but in spite of the county’s supposedly dire economic straits, Cam Parry and Fred Messerle voted to forgo county taxes in favor of supporting a speculative plan to build up Bandon’s downtown area with a new cheese factory.
Additionally, Messerle, now chairman of the board would not allow time for citizen comment after the structure advisory committee presented their report. (Some citizens brought it up later, anyway).
More when the video comes out but it looks like Bob Main is back to being the odd man out… and that after handpicking his compatriots on the bench.
Parry is a tremendous disappointment. He is nothing more than a promoter and a shill
Greetings Mary,
Thank you for letting me comment. I find it rather interesting that Cam and Fred are voting on matters for Bandon even though they don’t live in Bandon. Cam has many “friends” in Bandon i.e., the Allens, Tony’s Crab Shack, folks at Southern Coos Hospital – all connected to Rotary and the Chamber of Misfits. Speculative plans for a cheese factory that may or may not establish itself – are you kidding me? In this economy? Who is kidding who? I actually had higher regards for Cam and thought he would actually bring something to the plate for Coos County. Now, I’m really wondering who was the worse of two evils: Kevin or Cam? Both rode the fence – Cam is just doing a poorer job – failing at best. Cam shouldn’t be voting on matters for his “friends” – but, what is best for the COUNTY! Remember that Cam? When you were appointed, are you respecting the constituents of the appointment or the County? Why would you vote in favor of building Bandon’s downtown area? On what grounds? Do you personally benefit from this or do your friends? Does your vote, as a commissioner, consitute a conflict of interest? Tony sponsors your radio show. How about the Allens and their connection to the hospital and Ms. Juarez? Does anyone in Coos County care about urban renewal boundaries? I do!
Vote these people out! I’m tired of the “bubba” club – you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours! It’s time for the folks of this County to wake up and realize who is making decisions on their behalf.
It’s too late after Fred and Cam vote – to reverse a decision. But, it’s not too late to eliminate them from voting power! Adios! Hello 2012 elections!
Yup, I am totally up for three new faces on the bench… hopefully a couple of women in the mix
Isn’t it itme that they were all “out”. Please GOD, send us candidates that we can support.
