On the agenda for tomorrow’s Port of Coos Bay commissioners’ meeting is the filling of three spots on a technical advisory committee. The Port is required by ordinance enacted in 1991 to form, under specific conditions, a technical advisory committee. These conditions may include the proposed LNG terminal, the channel deepening and widening to possibly allow for post-Panamax vessels or a coal export terminal. With luck the Port will share the purpose of reestablishing this committee as well as whom they have chosen to offer advice.
I just saw a piece this morning listing the most dangerously polluted cities in the nation. One was West Virginia of course, another was the Port Los Angeles and the air pollution which is a direct result of their container facilities.
Of course, “put it in Coos County, the Anus of Oregone”.
The same people have been running things in this county ever since I got here. And they are still running things, and still attempting to insult those of us who point out what a crappy job they’ve been doing.
We Cave People don’t know nothin.
Yes, a letter writing campaign to inform the Gov that new management is necessary on the port commission-I say a clean sweep
Dirty coal to send to china to return home on the trade winds. I cant wait, the sunsets might be even more amazing. The coos coal train might still get the go ahead for transporting liquid gas products, no pipe, no problem. Just send rail tankers of gas here to load on ships for export. Ridiculous?, not with the mind set operating at the port.
We can complain till the cows come home and they will laugh just as long. Kitzhaber is the current designated driver and holds the keys to that car.
I know that philosopher, he bartends on weekends
Jeff Bishop has long wanted to move on from the Port of Coos Bay (probably before the s*** hits the fan). With this almost parting quote “… some philosopher, I can’t remember who, said, ‘All things that can’t continue forever must come to an end.’ ” Bishop peels back another shallow layer revealing the depth of his character.
I learned that one of the advisory picks to fill the ‘citizen at large’ position is, (are you ready for it?), Timm Slater
Verger’s district — which needed to absorb an additional 10,000 residents in redistricting — grew to the north to incorporate the southern part of Tillamook County and eastward to absorb Sheridan and Falls City. Those boundary changes will go into effect next year.
Will we just send the next most powerful democrat to replace her? If we do expect more of the same ol same, from the port. The democrat party has done its share in providing the financial support the state can give to this public/private corporate-state entity.
I informed some more relatives up that way, that they’re about to be assimilated by the coos borg.
