It’s that time again. The time when citizens of all walks of life get to have a real hand in their own governance either by jumping into the fray and running for office or helping to elect a candidate. This week, a group met to start looking at upcoming key state, county and local races in 2012. Just about everything is up for grabs next year, seats held by Krieger and Roblan, all three county commission slots and many small local city councils and school boards.
The purpose is to try and identify viable candidates and develop a campaign strategy to bring about some badly needed change in leadership and representation. May I encourage everyone to hold similar meetings of their own or contact me to join future meetings as they are scheduled. Politics can be a lot of fun and make no mistake the people who sit in these positions can and do have a huge impact on the day to day lives of the people who elect them. It is every citizens right and responsibility to participate.
To compete at Arnie’s level will require a candidate that holds some kind of elected office, or he will beat them on their government inexperience, personally I would consider that an asset, based on the representation we’ve received in this district/state. If there is an honest politician, holding any office, that’s not going to sell out the public interest, please tell us who it is ASAP. I would be a happy camper helping to promote that person. I’m not doubting they exist.
For the BOC, just be honest and have some level of intelligence, that doesn’t stare at the rear view mirror while their trying to drive forward. If they are incapable of that, they’re always going to have back seat drivers pointing out what their doing. Then we will be lost again. Secret agendas, stacked decks, back door lobbying, and politically connected selective committees are not honest. 3 people are enough,
