There was testimony today that prior to the discovery of Leah Freeman’s body, Wayne McGuffin, elder brother of the defendant Nick McGuffin quipped about the discovery of the second shoe near Hudson Ridge. While visiting friends and watching a news broadcast about the discovery, Wayne reportedly told Nick and the other people in the room that the shoe was planted there to through the authorities off. According to the testimony, Nick said, “yeah” and chuckled.
This morning the prosecution has gotten into the more gory details of the crime. Forensic scientist, Kathy Wilcox has described the vehicle processing as well as the blood spatter on the shoes, and the jury have seen pictures of Leah’s clothing. Leah’s body had been laying in the summer heat for weeks and her body had “melted” into her clothes, Wilcox explained.
McGuffin has not looked at the photographs, except to steal one quick glance over his attorney’s shoulder.
More forensic evidence is being entered when the court gets back from lunch.
Its in the Coquille River North Fork drainage system. Between the North fork and Middle Creek. Out Fairview, across the river and up the hill from the Homestead Tavern.
For those of us following your reports who do not know Ko Kwell, PLEASE, a geography lesson. Where is Hudson Ridge? Google does not show it. Other mentioned places also.
