A panel of seven handpicked by commissioners, Main and Whitty will read out an identical list of twenty questions to each applicant today. The questions have been kept quiet so the applicants are unable to prepare their answers in advance. Interviews begin at 8 AM at the Owen Building.
The panel consists of people who never attend regular BOC meetings so it will be interesting to see what types of questions they come up with based on whatever their experience in county government may be. The applicants being interviewed never attend the meetings either, for that matter, so it may be safe to say the inexperience of the panel may well suit the inexperience of the applicants.
Since the editor of the local “daily” (except at least 54 days annually when he does not publish) the paper controls what his few customers read in such matters, please publish the questions as asked and a few of the more revealing answers of applicants. Of course, if the questions are different depending on friend of Main or Whitty applicant, we would like to know. This transparent government is not quite that yet. Re earlier comments, you will not find my name next time as Bob Main’s greatest dollar campaign contributor – outside of his family – again.
