Because of rendering and upload times, I will update this post with additional short bits of video within the next few hours. This first video is with Commissioner Bob Main addressing one of his concerns regarding the proposed mineral lease with Oregon Resources that seeks to mine county timber property.
Coos County derives an approximate annual income per acre of timber of $30,000 annually. Naturally, any lease with ORC should at least meet that minimum income level or it is not worth the county risking future earnings. ORC has objected to this provision. Despite Jon Barton’s claim in a letter to the editor the county would receive $25,000 per acre no such provision is in the lease.
Jerry Fish, counsel for ORC argues against board adopted revisions to the mineral lease.

Barton left the meeting early without offering any public comment. To date, SCDC has not provided the promised copies of either their charter or their budget… still waiting… so I imagine an apology would take even longer
So have either Jon Barton or his Chief Gal Friday Clark responded to these facts yet? You know, the one where Barton pulls figures out from his netherlands and Clark dutifully transcribes?
Shouldn’t they have to admit they were wrong? This isn’t ancient history after all, and they both continue down this path of reporting things as Jon Barton wishes they were, not necessarily as they truly are.
One would think they would at least own up to their very public screw ups.
