Former Vice President, Dick Cheney, is not above the law according to Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mrs Farida Waziri, has said that the ex-Vice President of the United States of America, Richard ‘Dick’ Cheney is not above the laws of the land where Halliburton which he headed operated in alleged violation of the law. She emphasised that his indictment in the Halliburton case was not politically motivated as he was presently not seeking any elective post in the United States…
…She however stated that EFCC was in the threshold of recovering over $500 million from some multi-national companies that have violated the laws of the land. Halliburton Nigeria and Halliburton Inc have been accused of official high-handedness, for allegedly offering gratification to the tune of $180 million to some Nigerian public officials for the purpose of assisting the corporation to secure the award of the contract of Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas Project,in Bonny Island,Rivers State between 1994 and 1995.
