The 4th District congressional race between Peter DeFazio and challenger Art Robinson, another ‘climate scientist’ denying the effects of pulling carbon out of the ground and spewing it into the air causes global warming, is being replayed in Wisconsin. The same type of money behind Prop 23 in California, corporate interests have spent $650,000 trying to defeat Senator Russ Feingold, of Wisconsin. (His challenger claims global warming is caused by sunspots.)
Notwithstanding the seriousness of having intelligent and forward thinking and, dare I say it, progressive thinkers in Congress it is equally critical to err on the side of caution in the climate debate. If deniers, pushing the big oil, big coal, centralized energy agenda are wrong about climate change we all lose and lose big. If they are right, the worst that can happen is we move toward a greener renewable future that much sooner.
