On Saturday, June 28 at 8:30PM come and join the celebration of the short life of Leah Freeman. A candlelight vigil will be held at the corner of Hwy 42 and N Adams Street across from Safeway. This marks the 8th anniversary of her murder at the age of 15. Her murder is still unsolved to this day and friends and family want to keep her memory alive and urge the public to help in solving this horrible crime.
Don’t miss it!
“But if you lose the devil gets your soul”.
Ya listenin’ Coquillians?
Better think hard ’bout savin yer arse!
The devil went down to Georgia, he was looking for a soul to steal.
He was in a bind ‘cos he was way behind: he was willin’ to make a deal.
When he came across this young man sawin’ on a fiddle and playin’ it hot.
And the devil jumped upon a hickory stump and said: “Boy let me tell you what:
“I bet you didn’t know it, but I’m a fiddle player too.
“And if you’d care to take a dare, I’ll make a bet with you.
“Now you play a pretty good fiddle, boy, but give the devil his due:
“I bet a fiddle of gold against your soul, ‘cos I think I’m better than you.”
The boy said: “My name’s Johnny and it might be a sin,
“But I’ll take your bet, your gonna regret, ‘cos I’m the best that’s ever been.”
Johnny you rosin up your bow and play your fiddle hard.
‘Cos hells broke loose in Georgia and the devil deals it hard.
And if you win you get this shiny fiddle made of gold.
But if you lose, the devil gets your soul.
The devil opened up his case and he said: “I’ll start this show.”
And fire flew from his fingertips as he resined up his bow.
And he pulled the bow across his strings and it made an evil hiss.
Then a band of demons joined in and it sounded something like this.
When the devil finished, Johnny said: “Well you’re pretty good ol’ son.
“But if you’ll sit down in that chair, right there, and let me show you how its done.”
Fire on the moun, run boys, run.
The devil’s in the house of the risin’ sun.
Chicken in the bread pin, pickin’ out dough.
“Granny, does your dog bite?”
“No, child, no.”
The devil bowed his head because he knew that he’d been beat.
He laid that golden fiddle on the ground at Johnny’s feet.
Johnny said: “Devil just come on back if you ever want to try again.
“I told you once, you son of a bitch, I’m the best that’s ever been.”
And he played fire on the mount, run boys, run.
The devil’s in the house of the risin’ sun.
Chicken in the bread pin pickin’ out dough.
“Granny, does your dog bite?”
“No, child, no.”
Wow k9maj1!!!!! Awesome post! Thank you so much. Actually sent chills all over me! So nice to know someone is as up in arms about this case as I am!!! I think you are absolutely right Open Yr Eyes….k9maj1 surely is a Godsend! You are all making me cry and tomorrow isn’t even here yet! It’s a “good” cry though. One where you know people truly care.
That’s right Themguys – THANK YOU GEORGIA!!!!!!!!!
I thought I wouldnt cry till tomorrow but after reading all the comments who wouldn’t.k9maj1 you must have been sent from God just for Leah and Cory and I truely feel it.I know Leah is proud of all of us for fighting for her justice and never forgetting her life.Cory you stay as strong as you have Lady!!Your baby girls army is growing, soon she will have the justice she has long waited for.And poor boss hog if he dont!!
k9maj1
Thank you, and you already know but it bears repeating, Leah’s Army will be right behind you.
I have grieved these last two weeks for personal reasons, I grieve for the future of my country.
But I have a gut feeling, this was to prepare us for “the worm to turn”, for Karma to take hold.
In my personal little world, I see the flicker of truth and what is right taking hold.
I can think of no other explanation for the events of the last two days, I won’t go into specifics, but I will say one thing: I think truth and honesty is overtaking the dishonest and the deceitful that have reigned for far too long.
Thank you Georgia !!
Cory my thoughts are with you and your family. I hope that things that have been put in motion come back in our favor. I promise you this I WILL find the killer of your daughter if i have to shake every tree in your community till I get someone to break. This death will not go unpunished, if the person that killed her is reading this I WANT YOU TO UNDERSTAND THIS!!!! I WILL FIND YOU AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE PROSECUTED TO THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW. I WILL NOT REST UNTIL YOU ARE PUNISHED FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE AND GOTTEN AWAY WITH FOR THIS LONG. YOU DAYS OF FREEDOM ARE OVER WITH. I AM GOING TO LOOK IN YOUR EYES WHEN THEY PUT THE HANDCUFFS ON AND YOU WILL KNOW THAT I DID IT FOR LEAH. YOU WILL NOT HIDE FROM ME.
I think Leah knows that all this pain may be the stimulas that will rid this town of the “good ol boy” attitude held by many. When others see , which they will, that some kind of “dark alliance” kept this case closed for eight long years, I believe they will NEVER allow it to happen again, ever. The good people of Coquille will simply not allow it.
See you girls there.
THANK YOU BETTEJO! THAT WAS VERY NICE. SOMEWHERE IN MY MIND I KNOW SHE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN….. I GUESS WHEN THINGS QUIET DOWN IS WHEN I FEAR HER FORGOTTEN MOST. AND THINGS WERE QUIET THERE FOR A WHILE. BUT WE WILL CELEBRATE HER LIFE TOMORROW…… AND YES WE WILL CRY, I DON’T SUPPOSE THERE IS ANY WAY NOT TO…..VERY SPECIAL YOUNG GIRL LEAH WAS.
This vigil is so important for so many reasons, but the main one being that Leah’s spirit deserves to be honored. I know that vigil’s tend to be sad but they are a healthy outlet for grief and rememberance. You know the thought that has stuck with me this whole week is that when you sit back and think about the impression that she has left on those of us that never got the opportunity to know her, imagine what she did for her family and friends and it makes you really put into perspective how agonizing these last eight years must have been without her! To Leah’s family know that my heart is with you and she will not be forgotten.
You are most welcome. We have much more to celebrate as it looks like the cavalry is riding in at last!!!! Let’ s see if Boss Hogg will accept the help
THANK YOU FOR THAT POST MAGIX! YES WE MUST DO ALL WE CAN TO KEEP LEAH’S MEMORY ALIVE. LOTS OF TEARS BUT HER LIFE MEANT MORE THAN WORDS CAN SAY SO WE WILL REMEMBER THE LIFE OF LEAH FREEMAN. SHE IS MISSED SO MUCH.
