The recently formed group of concerned citizens in Coquille has introduced me to some interesting and inspiring people, including Cliff Latta, owner of Greywolf Drums and Cory Courtright, mother of 15 year old murder victim, Leah Freeman. Cory has graciously agreed to let me interview her and to share the information she has about Leah’s death, the investigation, the impact upon her family and how she copes with the tragedy for a national publication.
Cliff Latta is a fascinating and colorful character. He too has agreed to let me write about him from his wild and misspent youth, his years as an activist, his career as a drum maker and his recent fascination with ‘orbs’.
Many people are confusing the group with the individuals. Some of us believe our rights have been violated. This motivated us to join with other citizens. The group, however, is not making any claims for or against the CPD or individual officers. The agenda of Concerned Citizens can be read at http://concernedcitizensofcoquille.blogspot.com/
BTW, I am representing Concerned Citizens of Coquille, here.
magix i hope you don’t mind me answering this person
ctwo7 said The turnout of the ‘Concerned Citizens’ was extremely disappointing at the meeting this evening, but it makes sense since nothing they say is based on fact.
Concerned Citizens of Coquille, went to the meeting to support Cory Courtright & justice for Leah, period. I have stated that over & over on my blog, at the meeting, & on the flyers that were put up around town.
The turnout of the ‘Concerned Citizens’ was extremely disappointing at the meeting this evening, but it makes sense since nothing they say is based on fact. Why was it disappointing? Were you thinking of joining?
I personally was very satisfied with the Council meeting. We went there to support Cory & that’s what we did.
Where are these so-called civil rights violations? How many times are we going to have to address this misconception? Concerned Citizens of Coquille are not accusing anyone of that. I have been speaking about educating the public about their civil rights. I believe that’s what I said at the City Council meeting & on my blog.
My facts, my experiences are confirmed and documented. The forum I have chosen to disclose those facts to, since my complaint to O’Connor went unanswered 2+ years ago, is the Department of Justice.
Those of us choosing this avenue believe it prudent to await that outcome. It doesn’t matter whether you believe us or not, only the USDOJ has the authority to act.
I agree with flamelick 100%.
I also find it interesting Mrs. Geddry is that you have been parading herself as a leader of this ‘group’ for some time now, yet you can’t find the time to go to the meetings?
Anyway, the facts don’t lie in this situation. The turnout of the ‘Concerned Citizens’ was extremely disappointing at the meeting this evening, but it makes sense since nothing they say is based on fact. Where are these so-called civil rights violations? I think everyone is done wondering.
It seems to me that you should practice what you preach Magix.
You say that slander and libel laws apply on this forum, however nearly every post on here is slandering the Coquille Police Department.
You say that rumors are being spread by professional gossips, it takes one to know one.
You should not speak of facts when you nor most of your poster’s have any facts to speak of.
Fair enough.
I have deleted a comment by ctw07 slandering Mr Latta. This is a public forum and slander and libel laws apply. There are many rumors being spread by professional gossips, be sure and confirm your facts before posting
